He explained that the decree signed by the head of state is the result of a court ruling, according to which Atambayev must lose all his awards and titles.
“I am surprised that this decision has caused such a resonance, as this is not news. The president acted not at his own discretion. There is a court ruling, and we are obliged to comply with it. The decree was developed and signed by the head of state, and we had no choice,” he noted.
Baisalov also reminded that the key decision to strip Atambayev of his ex-president status was made back in 2019 by the Jogorku Kenesh.
“That is, in fact, he was deprived of all privileges back then. The awards in question are incomparable to the status he had,” added Edil Baisalov.
It is worth noting that President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree stripping Almazbek Atambayev of the state awards of the Kyrgyz Republic. According to this document, he has been deprived of the following awards:
- the highest degree of distinction “Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic”;
- the Order of “Manas” II degree;
- the Order of “Danaker”;
- the medal “Dank”.
