Sergey Lavrov: We will not allow chaos in the CSTO

Priorities for the organization announced in Moscow

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, stated that the country will not allow chaos to arise in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Starting from January 1, 2026, Russia will assume the presidency of the CSTO, succeeding Kyrgyzstan, which previously led the organization. In this regard, the minister addressed the CSTO members and the international community.

Lavrov noted that Russia's presidency will be guided by the slogan "Collective Security in a Multipolar World: A Common Goal, Shared Responsibility." He emphasized that the CSTO member states must unite their efforts to ensure international security.

In this context, Russia proposes to its partners to build mutually beneficial cooperation and work together on forming an architecture of equal and indivisible security in the Eurasian space, viewing the CSTO as one of the pillars of this system.

“We strive for the states of Eurasia to take responsibility for security issues and determine the future of the continent without external interference,” the minister added.

The CSTO has formed as an authoritative association of allied states, whose activities are not directed against anyone and do not have aggressive intentions. The main goal of the organization is to maintain stability and prosperity among the member states. All decisions are made by consensus, based on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and mutual assistance.

Russia intends to continue working on the development of key areas of cooperation, including the implementation of initiatives proposed by Kyrgyzstan during its presidency.

Our efforts will be focused on fulfilling the main mission of the CSTO – maintaining peace and stability in the area of responsibility of the organization and creating conditions for the safe development of the member states.

“No one should doubt: chaos in our common home will not be allowed,” Lavrov emphasized.
