In their statement, the foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, and Djibouti expressed concern that the recognition of Somaliland could create a dangerous precedent, threatening international peace and security. They reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia also condemned Israel's actions, calling them unilateral and contrary to international norms.

The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, stated that Israel's decision is a violation of the UN Charter and could destabilize the region, undermining peace efforts. He pointed to potential diplomatic and political consequences and reaffirmed the country's right to defend its sovereignty.

Somaliland, which has effectively functioned as an independent state since 1991, is still regarded on the international stage as part of Somalia. In January 2024, Somaliland and Ethiopia signed a memorandum of understanding that envisions the establishment of an Ethiopian military base on the territory of the partially recognized state.
