During a press conference held at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro should serve as a landmark warning to all who threaten the safety and sovereignty of America. "This successful operation should signal to everyone who endangers the lives of Americans," Trump emphasized.

He also added that Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores will soon face the consequences of their actions and will stand trial in the U.S.

According to Trump, Maduro's actions not only threatened the security of the United States but also the entire region. "There will be no more threats to American citizens or anyone in Venezuela," he noted.

Speaking about Washington's intentions, Trump stressed that the U.S. seeks peace, freedom, and justice for the Venezuelan people, including those living in the U.S. who wish to return to their homeland.

The operation, during which strikes were carried out on Caracas, took place on the night of January 3. Later, Trump announced the capture of Maduro and his removal from the country.

According to CBS News, the detention was made possible by the actions of U.S. special forces. Maduro faces official charges of "narcoterrorism," cocaine trafficking, and illegal possession of weapons.

At the press conference in Mar-a-Lago, Trump detailed the goals and progress of the U.S. operation in Venezuela.
