According to Pam Bondi, Maduro and Flores are accused of organizing "narcoterrorism," smuggling cocaine into the U.S., as well as illegal possession of firearms and explosives with the intent to use them against the American state. These charges were officially filed in the federal court for the Southern District of New York.

Bondi also added: "Soon they will answer to American justice on U.S. soil in the appropriate courts."

As reported by The New York Times, back in 2020, the U.S. government already brought charges against Maduro for corruption and drug trafficking, as well as other crimes. During that same period, the U.S. State Department offered a reward of $50 million for information leading to the arrest of the president of Venezuela.

At the same time, ABC News reported that Maduro will be flown to New York. The location of his detention has not yet been disclosed, but according to sources, defendants whose cases are heard in the federal court in Manhattan are usually placed in a detention facility in the Brooklyn area.
