U.S. President Donald Trump announced the withdrawal of the National Guard from cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland. He emphasized that if crime rates begin to rise, federal forces may return to restore order, as reported by Reuters.

According to Trump, this decision was made to combat crime and protect federal property. However, local authorities in these cities expressed dissatisfaction, deeming the move excessive.

“We may come back in a completely different and more powerful format if crime starts to increase again. It’s just a matter of time,” the president noted.

Earlier, the Pentagon instructed National Guard personnel to be prepared for actions to suppress unrest.

On September 27, 2025, Trump sent National Guard units to Portland to combat “domestic terrorism.” He stated that local immigration and customs officials are being attacked by members of the “Antifa” movement and other offenders. In the lead-up to these events, the president classified “Antifa” as a terrorist organization.
