The Cabinet introduced a six-month ban on the export of timber outside the EAEU

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to impose a temporary ban on the export of timber and wood products outside the customs zone of the Eurasian Economic Union. The corresponding decree was signed by the Chairman of the Cabinet, Adylbek Kasymaliev.

According to the new document, the restrictions apply to timber and its products classified under the EAEU HS codes 4401, 4403, and 4407. The ban will take effect in three days and will last for six months. Exceptions are made only for cases related to humanitarian aid, which will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce is required to notify the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission about the introduction of these temporary measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in turn, must inform the Executive Committee of the CIS.

In addition, the Customs Service and the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security have been instructed to take necessary measures to prevent the illegal export of timber.

Furthermore, the previous decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated May 28, 2025, which imposed a similar ban, has been revoked.
