The Vice Mayor of Bishkek, Azamat Kadyrov, announced on December 26 that a public building with necessary functions is planned to be constructed on the site of the former House of Government. This statement was made at an extraordinary meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of industrial policy, transport, the fuel and energy complex, architecture, and construction.
During this meeting, information was also presented about the general plan for the city of Bishkek, which is envisioned until 2050. In the summer of 2025, it became known that the building of the former House of Government, located on Abdumomunov Street, was removed from the list of historical and cultural monuments. This decision was made by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.
The construction of the House of Government began in the early 1950s. Initially, the building was intended for a party school, but over time, it housed the highest state authorities. Since the 1960s, the building has been home to the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Council of Ministers, and in the 1990s — the Jogorku Kenesh. After 2010, the building was transferred to the government.
As of today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy and Commerce are located in this building.
