According to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Tajikistan, this project will become the largest in the field of solar energy in the country's history and will contribute to strengthening energy security.
To implement the project, an investment agreement was signed between the government and a local company, which provides for the construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of 500 megawatts.
The first solar power plant with a capacity of 250 megawatts will be located in the Ahsht district of the Sughd region, while the second will be in the Jaihun district of the Khatlon region. The investor is committed to completing the design, construction, and commissioning of the facilities by the end of 2026.
It is expected that the new solar capacities will help reduce the electricity deficit, which is especially felt in winter, as well as decrease the load on the energy system and enhance the stability of electricity supply for the population and the economy.
