As of now, the construction of the Orto-Tokoy Hydroelectric Power Plant is 80% complete. This project is part of efforts to ensure reliable and stable electricity supply for the country.
According to the Ministry of Energy, construction work is proceeding according to the established schedule. The diversion tunnel, 950 meters long, has been successfully completed and is currently being reinforced with concrete. Ground reinforcement at the tunnel branching point has also been completed, and the walls of the chamber have already been erected. The installation of the tunnel interchange is planned soon, where metal structures have already been installed in two of the three exits.
The construction of the hydroelectric power plant itself is nearing completion, and the readiness of the facility is currently at 90%. All three hydroturbines and disc gates have been installed, and the roof frame has been assembled. Roofing work is actively underway, and some other construction processes are being completed.
The work is being carried out by JSC "Chakan HPP". The expected capacity of the Orto-Tokoy HPP will be 21 megawatts, and the completion of construction is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
It is worth noting that the project for the construction of the Orto-Tokoy HPP received government approval in July 2021. The contract for the implementation of the project was signed on March 24, 2023, and actual construction work began in June 2024. It is expected that the capacity of the Orto-Tokoy HPP will provide electricity to 15,000 to 18,000 households annually, depending on the level of consumption.
