Results of 2025. Launched Large-Scale Projects

- In 2025, Kyrgyzstan took an important step forward by launching several major infrastructure projects that are expected to yield significant dividends.

Among them, it is worth highlighting the progress in the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, as well as the Eastern Bypass Road in Bishkek and the Barskoon–Bedel highway project. This year also marked the start of construction for the international airport in Manas.

China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway: Start of Construction Works (Active Phase)

As of 2025, the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project is the most capital-intensive transport project in Central Asia. It is also among the top ten largest transport initiatives within the framework of the Eurasian Transport Corridor.

According to information from the Cabinet of Ministers, the length of the railway section on Kyrgyz territory will be 304 km, including 50 bridges and 29 tunnels with a total length of 120 km. The estimated cost of the project is 4.7 billion USD.

Of this amount, about 2.3 billion USD will be provided by China in the form of a 35-year loan through a Joint Project Company established by the three countries. The loan will be repaid by this company. The remaining 2.3 billion USD will be invested in the authorized capital of the company by the three states.

The distribution of shares in the Joint Project Company is as follows: China — 51%, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan — 24.5% each.

As of today, the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway is actively ongoing. President Sadyr Japarov announced this on December 25 at the IV People's Kurultai.

On December 16, 2025, an agreement was signed for the financing of the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.

The Cabinet of Ministers also reported the commencement of work on tunnel construction and the establishment of temporary infrastructure.

In September, Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobayev instructed local authorities to allocate land plots for the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.

In August 2025, an agreement was signed between China and Kyrgyzstan for financing Kyrgyzstan's share in the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project.

In July, Chairman of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji familiarized himself with the work of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway company.
Eastern Bypass Road Bishkek: Start of Construction

The construction of the Eastern Bypass Road in Bishkek began on December 22. The press service of the city administration published a map on December 25 indicating the route of the road and adjacent streets.

The construction is expected to be completed within 1-2 years, as reported by Bishkek's Vice Mayor Azamat Kadyrov.

The new road will run in the eastern part of the capital, beyond the urban development. The total length will be 16 km, including the construction of five interchanges and the reconstruction of adjacent streets:


The total length of all roads, including the Eastern Bypass Road, will be 32 kilometers.

Construction of Tunnels on the Barskoon–Bedel Highway

On September 27, 2025, in the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, Bakyt Torobayev participated in the ceremony of laying the capsule for the construction of tunnels on the Barskoon–Bedel highway.

The official start of road construction took place on August 27, 2025, with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov.

The route of the highway will pass through the Barskoon and Soek passes, the Kara-Sai valley, and the Ashuu-Suu pass. To ensure year-round passability through the Soek pass, a 5.5 km tunnel is planned to be constructed, and an elevated bridge structure will be built in the Kara-Sai area. For the Ashuu-Suu pass, which receives significant snowfall, a 3.8 km tunnel will also be constructed.

The contractor is China Road and Bridge Corporation, and the full completion of the road construction is scheduled for 2030.

According to the project, the construction of two tunnels at the "Soek" and "Ashuu-Suu" passes, which are the main facilities of the Barskoon–Bedel highway, has begun. The length of the tunnel at the "Soek" pass will be 5,340 meters, and at the "Ashuu-Suu" pass — 3,840 meters. These tunnels will become some of the longest and most technically complex in the history of Kyrgyzstan.




Construction of the International Airport "Jalal-Abad"

President Sadyr Japarov participated in the laying of the capsule for the construction of the International Airport "Jalal-Abad" in the Suzak district during a working trip to the Jalal-Abad region on May 13, 2025.

The new air harbor will occupy an area of over 380 hectares. The two-story passenger terminal, with an area of 10,000 square meters, will be able to serve over 350 passengers per hour.
