The planned works will cover a total of 85.8 kilometers of road infrastructure. The project also includes the construction of pedestrian bridges in two locations and the installation of street lighting along 31 kilometers of roads in the same areas.
As part of the road maintenance and modernization program, the following types of work are expected:
- Conducting maintenance and repairs of main and auxiliary roads, including the installation of road signs and traffic control devices;
- Updating road markings;
- Marking dedicated lanes for public transport using colored pavement;
- Creating an accessible environment for people with disabilities;
- Improving road safety near schools and kindergartens;
- Constructing drainage systems;
- Repairing and expanding manholes.
This year, the construction of the six-lane Tuul highway, spanning 32 kilometers, will also begin. The contract with the contractor was signed in 2025, and currently, preparatory work has been completed by 80%. Out of 112 land plots required for the project, 10 have already been cleared.
The Tuul highway is a strategically important project aimed at expanding Ulaanbaatar's road network, reducing traffic load, and simplifying transit traffic through the city center.
