On January 7, the Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services Nurdin Oruntaev visited the construction site of the wastewater treatment facilities in Cholpon-Ata, located in the Issyk-Kul region.

This project is being implemented as part of the initiative for "Environmental Management of Lake Issyk-Kul and Sustainable Tourism Development."

According to the Ministry of Construction, Oruntaev carefully inspected the site, including key construction elements and pumping stations, emphasizing the need to adhere to deadlines and quality of work.

Currently, reinforcement work is being carried out for the new sewage treatment station, designed to process 14,200 cubic meters of wastewater per day. Earthworks for all 12 pumping stations have been completed, and the project is moving to the next stage.

Upon completion of the project, the centralized sewage system will ensure 100% connection for the city of Cholpon-Ata, as well as the villages of Bosteri, Baktyu-Dolonotu, and Kara-Oy, including boarding houses, guest houses, and other facilities in these areas. Currently, only 30-40% of the residents of Cholpon-Ata are connected to the sewage system.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

Work began in July 2025 and is being carried out by the contracting organizations China Road and "Alkatash."
