
The Danish Minister of Justice, Peter Hummelgaard, noted that Greenland has become the target of various influence campaigns, one of the goals of which is to undermine relations between Denmark and the island.
The editor-in-chief of the Danish fact-checking service TjekDet, Thomas Hedin, pointed out the increase in disinformation campaigns in Greenland last year.
Because Greenland is not part of the European Union, the bloc's social media laws, which require platforms to mitigate threats of disinformation, do not apply to this region, as reported by the Danish Ministry of Digital Technology.
Despite polls showing support for integration with Europe among the residents of Greenland, Bundestag member from the Green Party, Sergey Lagodinsky, stated that the EU must prepare for a "new type of hybrid confrontation" emanating from this island.
