- One of the main problems at the moment is the consumption of coal in the private sector. This was reported on February 5, 2026, by the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, Daniyar Amangeldiev, at a parliamentary meeting.

Amangeldiev emphasized that the government also intends to tighten requirements for industrial organizations. In particular, enterprises that do not install purification filters will be subject to forced closure.

In addition, a ban on the import of bulk coal was previously introduced. As part of the new measures, 200 million US dollars have been allocated from the presidential fund for the construction of a coal enrichment plant.

He added that starting from 2027, the import of bulk coal will be completely banned in large and medium-sized cities of the republic. This measure aims to reduce air pollution and improve the environmental situation in populated areas.

Historical reference:

In October 2025, the government imposed a ban on the import, sale, storage, and use of bulk coal with a fraction of 0–13 mm within the Chui region and the city of Bishkek (except for supplies for heating enterprises).
