According to the information from the agency, the capacity of the new HPP will be 100 MW, which will allow for the annual production of about 435 million kWh of electricity, thereby reducing the energy deficit by almost 11%.
“This project contributes to strengthening Kyrgyzstan's position in the regional energy market, will create new jobs, and will also expand the areas of irrigated land in the Naryn district, which will promote the development of agriculture and improve the living conditions of the population,” the message notes.
Project Implementation Progress
The completion of the construction of the Kulanak HPP is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, according to the action plan approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
- The project is being implemented by the LLC "Naryn Production Enterprise" in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy.
- The HPP will be located at the confluence of the At-Bashy and Naryn rivers and represents a diversion power station.
- The total cost of construction will be about 135 million US dollars.
- The station is designed to accommodate four hydro units with a capacity of 25 MW each.
In addition, the Cabinet plans to construct the Kulanak-2 HPP with a capacity of 68.8 MW by the end of 2030.
