The Starlink system will be installed on the fleets of both companies. Southwest Airlines has confirmed its plans to implement the technology, stating that the first plane with Starlink will begin operations this summer, and by the end of 2026, more than 300 planes will be equipped with this system. Wi-Fi on board will be provided to passengers for free.
“Starlink provides passengers with a home-like comfort in the air, allowing them to watch their favorite shows, follow sports events in real time, download music, play games, work, and communicate with loved ones throughout the flight,” noted Tony Roach, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer and Brand Officer of Southwest Airlines.
