In the Issyk-Kul region, the process of modernizing electrical networks will continue in 2026: more than two thousand outdated wooden poles will be replaced with modern reinforced concrete ones, as reported by the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan.
The wooden poles that are to be replaced were installed in the 1960s and 70s and have long exceeded their normative usage period, being in critical condition.
The replacement with reinforced concrete structures will increase the reliability of electricity supply, reduce the number of emergency incidents, and ensure a stable supply of electricity to consumers.
In 2026, the replacement work will be carried out in the following distribution electrical networks (RES):
- Ak-Suu RES – 258 poles
- Karakoil RES – 260 poles
- Jeti-Oguz RES – 263 poles
- Ton RES – 543 poles
- Cholpon-Ata RES – 314 poles
- Tup RES – 229 poles
- Balykchy RES – 282 poles.
It is planned that the installation of new poles will be completed by the end of November 2026.
In 2025, more than 1500 reinforced concrete poles were already installed, significantly updating the worn-out infrastructure in several settlements in the region.
The new poles that will be installed in 2026 will be produced in a dedicated workshop that has been successfully operating since 2017 at the Balykchy RES, which specializes in the production of reinforced concrete products. This workshop manufactures poles of the SV-110 and SV-95 brands, fully complying with quality and reliability standards.
These activities represent an important step towards improving the resilience and efficiency of electricity supply in the region. The modernization of the energy infrastructure in the Issyk-Kul region will continue in the future.
