The Bishkek City Hall is demolishing construction near the Central Department Store

In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, work has begun on the forced demolition of metal structures located near the Central Department Store "Aichurek".

The mayor of the city, Aibek Junushaliev, is present at the scene.

According to his statement, the owners of the construction materials must remove them from the demolition site by the end of today. This step was taken after the developer ignored the mayor's order to dismantle the framework independently within three days.

The city planning inspection established that the object does not comply with the approved project. The developer was carrying out work with significant deviations from the agreed parameters, and the current design was not even discussed at the meetings of the city planning council. Instead of the promised restoration of the fountains and preservation of the architectural style of the square, the construction of permanent metal structures began. The city hall deemed this a significant violation of urban planning regulations.

The city authorities intend to completely clear the area and restore its former appearance. The restoration of the fountain composition has become a mandatory condition for organizing the square. Earlier, the management of the shopping center assured the public of their intention to preserve the fountains; however, the construction work that has actually begun puts these promises in doubt.

All costs for the demolition and operation of special equipment are planned to be borne by the developer. City services will continue their actions until the area is completely cleared of construction materials and debris.
