- On February 23, 2026, at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration, the deputies discussed and approved in the first reading the draft law "On the Ratification of the Protocol Amending the Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Border Crossing Points, signed on December 25, 2003." This protocol was signed on August 22, 2025, in Bishkek.

Deputy Director of the State Border Service Marat Maralbaev, who presented the report, stated that the protocol makes changes to the status of two border points:

- "Kamyshanovka-Road" (formerly "Tömönkü-Chüy-Road") and "Kichi-Kapka-Road" will now operate in a multilateral (international) mode instead of a bilateral one;

- the "Kamyshanovka-Road" point will operate around the clock, unlike the previous regime, which was limited to daylight hours.

According to Maralbaev, these changes are aimed at creating more favorable conditions for the development of the tourism industry, as well as increasing the flow of goods and passengers, which in turn should improve the infrastructure of border areas.

The committee members unanimously supported the draft law in the first reading.
