On March 2, 2026, during a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, Deputy Dastanbek Jumabekov raised the issue of the availability of statistics on customs violations among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sultan Akhmatov responded that such statistics are not available to them.

The deputy also inquired whether there is any artificial delay of goods by customs officials at the border.

In response, the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service Elnura Mambetjunusheva noted that such actions constitute an official crime and should be investigated in the country where they occurred.

Furthermore, Jumabekov reported on the difficulties entrepreneurs face when exporting their products.

“Businessmen's goods can be stuck at the border for months, and they cannot be imported into the country or exported back. We must provide them with support,” he emphasized.

At that time, a draft protocol concerning amendments to the Agreement defining the specifics of criminal and administrative liability for violations of customs legislation by the member states of the customs union, signed on July 5, 2010, was under discussion (submitted for approval).
