According to information, there is an increase in prices for both gasoline and diesel fuel, reports Ulysmedia.kz.

In January 2026, the consumer price indexes for gasoline and diesel fuel in the country set annual records: the average price of gasoline increased by 16.8% (AI-92 – by 17%), while diesel rose by 14.2% compared to the previous year. This occurred against the backdrop of a moratorium that was introduced on October 16, 2025.

The increase in gasoline prices in January 2026 was the most significant compared to similar periods in recent years. At the same time, the maximum increase in diesel fuel prices was recorded in January 2024, amounting to 14.3%.

Pavlodar region showed the largest increase in gasoline prices (CPI 126.3%), followed by Astana (120%) and the regions of Abai, Almaty, and Ulytau. The smallest price increase was registered in the West Kazakhstan region (112%).

The highest retail prices for gasoline are observed in Astana and Almaty. In the capital, where the average cost of AI-92 is 236 tenge, gasoline of this brand is sold for 251 tenge per liter. In Almaty, the price for AI-98 averaged 322 tenge, which is 10.2% higher than the average in other cities, specifically 355 tenge per liter. Zhezkazgan (242 tenge) and Taldykorgan (239 tenge) also stand out with high prices for AI-92 gasoline. The lowest costs for AI-92 were recorded in Turkestan (224 tenge) and Atyrau (218 tenge). This data is provided by Finprom.

The moratorium on the increase in prices for AI-92 gasoline will remain in effect until the end of March 2026. This measure was adopted to control inflation. The Ministry of Energy previously stated that sharp changes in fuel prices are not expected even after the moratorium ends.
