At the moment, the situation in the fuel market in Kyrgyzstan is relatively stable, despite price fluctuations over the past year.

A meeting was held at the antimonopoly service with representatives of major oil traders, including the NGO "Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan," the NGO "Alliance of Entrepreneurs," LLC "SHNOS," LLC "Alpha Oil," LLC "Munai Prom," LLC "Partner Oil," and JSC "RN-Kyrgyznefteproduct."

Key issues were discussed, including stock volumes, price situation, and the reliability of fuel supplies to the domestic market.

According to information from the antimonopoly agency, fuel supplies are proceeding according to schedule, and fuel stocks in the country are sufficient for about two months.

In January, prices for gasoline and diesel decreased to 3 soms per liter, and the current price changes are due to fluctuations in wholesale prices at Russian refineries.

"In the context of ongoing geopolitical tensions, the situation in the fuel market is under control and does not create negative consequences for the domestic market of Kyrgyzstan in the near future. Duty-free fuel supplies are carried out under an intergovernmental agreement between the ministries of energy of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, ensuring stability in supply volumes and protecting the domestic market from external factors. The antimonopoly regulation service constantly monitors the price situation in the fuel market," the agency reported.

As a result of the meetings, oil traders were recommended to maintain prices and keep sufficient fuel stocks to avoid shortages in the domestic market.

Price Changes

It is worth noting that most of the fuel in Kyrgyzstan is imported, with over 80% of gasoline and diesel coming from abroad, mainly from Russia and Kazakhstan, which makes domestic prices dependent on the situation in these markets.

In 2025, there was a gradual increase in fuel prices: gasoline rose by an average of 15%, and diesel by more than 11%. The main factors for the increase were repairs at oil refineries in Russia, geopolitical tensions, and increased fuel demand.

However, at the beginning of 2026, a slight decrease in prices was recorded.

According to data from the National Statistics Committee, in January, prices for AI-92 gasoline decreased to 74 soms per liter, AI-95 to 79 soms, and diesel to 78-79 soms. The decrease was about 2-3 soms per liter and is related to adjustments in wholesale prices and seasonal declines in demand.

"We would gladly switch to public transport, but there are difficulties there too. Waiting for buses and overcrowding during peak hours make it extremely inconvenient to use. Therefore, while taking children to school and extracurricular activities, as well as getting to work, we spend quite a bit on fuel. Unfortunately, there are no alternatives," drivers share their opinions.

At this time, authorities and oil traders confirm that fuel supplies to Kyrgyzstan are proceeding according to schedule, and fuel stocks are sufficient for about two months. The price dynamics in the future will depend on the cost of fuel at Russian oil refineries, which, in turn, significantly influences prices in Kyrgyzstan.
