Storm Warning: Avalanches and Ice Expected on February 21-22

According to the Kyrgyz Hydrometeorological Service, on February 21 and 22, snow avalanches, snow drifts, and ice are expected in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan.

Dangerous weather conditions are anticipated on the following roads:

— Bishkek — Osh, 121–138 km (Töö-Ashuu Pass);

— Bishkek — Osh, 198–265 km (Ala-Bel Pass, Chychkan Gorge);

— Myrza-Ake — Kara-Kulja — Alayku, 55–115 km;

— Ala-Buka — Kanysh-Kiya, 45–112 km (Chapchyma Pass);

— Krasnaya Gorka — Ak-Tash, 0–3 km;

— Sary-Tash — Daroot-Korgon — Karamyk, 97–98 km;

— Bishkek — Naryn — Torugart, 292–305 km (Dolon Pass);

— Aral — Ming-Kush, 1–14 km;

— Aral — Suusamyr, 8–21 km;

— Balikchy — Kazarman — Jalal-Abad, 201–205 km, 260–290 km, and 326–349 km (Kök-Art Pass);

— Karakol — Enilchek, 45–90 km (Chon-Ashuu Pass).

Drivers are strongly advised to exercise caution when passing through areas with avalanche-prone conditions and to maintain a distance of at least 500 meters between vehicles.

Forecasters recommend taking current weather conditions into account when planning trips to mountainous areas.
