Storm Warning Announced in Mountain Areas of Kyrgyzstan: Avalanches Expected

According to information from the Hydrometeorological Service, from February 11 to 13, precipitation is expected in some mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan, which may lead to an increased risk of avalanches and snowdrifts. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).

The most dangerous sections are located on the following key routes in the country:
• Bishkek – Osh: 121–138 km (Tоо-Ashuu Pass), 198–255 km (Chychkan, Ala-Bel);
• Suusamyr – Talas – Taraz: 1–14 km (Otmak Pass);
• Myrzake – Kara-Kuldja – Alayku: 55–115 km;
• Ala-Buka – Kanysh-Kyya: 45–112 km (Chapchyma Pass);
• Krasnaya Gorka – Akhtash: 0–3 km;
• Sary-Tash – Daroot-Korgon – Karamyk: 97–98 km;
• Bishkek – Naryn – Torugart: 292–305 km (Dolon Pass);
• Aral – Min-Kush: 1–14 km;
• Balikchy – Kazarman – Jalal-Abad: 326–349 km (Kok-Art Pass);
• Karakol – Enilchek: 45–90 km (Chon-Ashuu Pass).

On these sections, the occurrence of avalanches, snowdrifts, ice, and snow accumulations is possible. Rescue services strongly recommend that drivers maintain a distance of at least 500 meters between vehicles and remain extremely vigilant.

The MES also reminds that in case of emergencies, one should immediately call 112.
