At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Subsoil Use, Ecology, and Environmental Protection on March 9, Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, reported on the ongoing improvements in the radiation safety and nuclear materials control system in the country.

During the discussion of the ministry's work for 2025, Raimkulova noted that this year Kyrgyzstan signed laws to join two Vienna Conventions related to radiation safety. The updated version of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) protocol regarding small quantities of nuclear materials was also ratified.

According to the deputy minister, this document establishes a procedure for accounting, control, and application of international guarantees for nuclear materials at the state level.

The changes in legislation are aimed at adapting Kyrgyzstan's radiation safety system to international standards, Raimkulova added.
