Starting from March 1, 2026, citizens of Uzbekistan who have been living in Turkey for more than three years will be able to automatically obtain work permits. This was reported by the information agency "Azattyk Asia," citing the Migration Agency under the government of Uzbekistan.

This initiative was discussed during a meeting between Turkey's Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan and the head of the Uzbek Migration Agency Behzod Musaev.

According to the new rules, Uzbeks wishing to find employment in Turkey will need to find an employer and obtain a special visa at the consulate in their home country, after which they will be able to apply for a permit through the information system. This will significantly simplify the process for migrants.

During the negotiations, an agreement was also reached to sign a document that will allow the Turkish employment agency İŞKUR to centrally compile a list of the most in-demand professions in the labor market and send these requests to Uzbekistan.

In addition, the parties agreed to continue the practice of legalizing Uzbek citizens who are in Turkey without documents, without applying harsh measures such as deportation. This will be a systematic effort aimed at protecting the rights of migrants.

The Migration Agency also reported an agreement with the Turkish company KSK Tezimlik, which will allow the recruitment of 2,500 Uzbek builders for major projects in Ankara, the need for which must be addressed this year.

The signing of these important documents, which simplify the employment of Uzbek citizens in Turkey, took place during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Ankara.
