According to the new regulations, Uzbeks living in Turkey on a permanent basis for at least three years will be able to obtain work permits automatically. This information was provided by the press service of the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan.

This initiative was agreed upon during a meeting between Behzod Musaev, the head of the Agency, and Vedat Işıkhan, the Minister of Labor and Social Security of Turkey.

Previously, to obtain a work permit, foreigners were required to find an employer, apply for a visa at the consulate in their home country, and receive approval from local authorities through a special information system. Now, a simplified procedure will be applied for Uzbeks.

Additionally, during the negotiations, the parties agreed to sign a document under which the Turkish Employment Agency İŞKUR will centrally compile a list of the most in-demand professions and send these requests to Uzbekistan.

There was also an agreement to continue the practice of legalizing Uzbeks who are in Turkey without documents, without applying harsh measures such as deportation. It was emphasized that this work has a systematic approach and is aimed at protecting the rights of migrants.

As a result of the meeting, Musaev and Işıkhan noted that the discussions laid the groundwork for further cooperation in the field of labor migration and improving conditions for Uzbek citizens in Turkey.

In addition, the Migration Agency announced the signing of an agreement with the Turkish company KSK Tezimlik, which provides for the attraction of 2,500 Uzbek builders to work on major projects in Ankara. The need for these jobs is expected to be met this year.

Negotiations at various ministerial levels took place during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Ankara, where he met with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and participated in a number of joint events. In particular, the leaders opened a residential complex built by Uzbek specialists in the province of Hatay, which was affected by a devastating earthquake three years ago.
