Syrtbai Musaev, former chairman of the National Commission for the State Language and a member of the commission working on the new version of the text and music of the national anthem, shared his thoughts on the anthem.

Recently, the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Local Self-Government, and the Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh reviewed three versions of the anthem, but all were rejected.

Before making a decision, the committee chairman Kurmankul Zulyshev turned to Musaev.

He noted that the national anthem should stand out among other musical works, inspiring and awakening the spirit of the people. "When the anthem sounds, people should feel a sense of excitement," he emphasized.

Musaev also shared his experience when he travels abroad and hears the anthems of other countries that evoke strong emotions in him. "In such moments, I think: why don't we have such an anthem? The previous anthem played its role, but now we are in a different time," he added.

In his opinion, the anthem should meet the modern requirements of the state and society. "The anthem is formed not only by the text but also by the melody and rhythm. We may not understand the words of other anthems, but they still make us feel a thrill," Musaev believes.

Moreover, he noted that many of the texts submitted for the competition did not meet the requirements. "I have already asked the question: are there no more poets among us? Writing an anthem requires special talent and understanding of its essence," he said, adding that he liked the text of the third version, although there were moments that required refinement, such as the word "Azattyk".

According to Musaev, after making revisions, the authors improved the text, which became much more worthy.
