At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on constitutional legislation, state structure, and local self-government, member of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev expressed the opinion that candidates for elections in Kyrgyzstan should not be held responsible if minors are present during their campaign meetings with voters.

Dastan Bekeshev noted that in the past, candidates were often fined for the presence of children at their meetings, with the fine amounting to 7,500 soms.

“For example, when a candidate holds a meeting and a woman comes with a child — it’s impossible to chase her away. As a result, opponents document the presence of children in photos and initiate bringing the candidate to account. Such cases, in my opinion, occurred in 2021 and have happened repeatedly,” he added.

As a result of the discussion, the deputies adopted the draft constitutional law "On Amendments to the Constitutional Law 'On Elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic'" in the third reading and sent it for further consideration in parliament.
