Today, January 13, the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Local Self-Government, and Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh conducted a review and approved in the first reading amendments to the law on state awards and honorary titles.

The bill was initiated by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Among the proposals is the exclusion of the following awards and titles:

It is also proposed to transfer the authority to establish the Honorary Certificate and the titles "Honored" to the Cabinet of Ministers.

During the discussion, Deputy Gulnara Akimbaeva expressed doubts about the appropriateness of excluding the title "People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic".

Deputy Marlen Mamataliyev expressed concerns that the proposed changes could lower the status of the title "Honored". He also noted that the exclusion of the title "People's Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic" is unacceptable.

This viewpoint was shared by Deputy Janarbek Akayev, who emphasized that the exclusion of this title creates uncertainty regarding the awarding of the title "People's Writer of the Kyrgyz Republic" to poets.

The committee chairman Kurmankul Zulushiev noted the need for a unified approach to this issue. He suggested not just excluding individual awards and titles, but completely reviewing the existing system of state awards and creating a new one.
