On January 10, after a long illness, Raissa Zaitovna Kydyrbaeva, an honored scientist of the Kyrgyz Republic and a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences, passed away at the age of 96. She made a significant contribution to the development of manasology and folklore studies. Information about her death was published by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Raissa Kydyrbaeva was born on November 30, 1930, in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Frunze. In 1952, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Philology of Kyrgyz State University. From 1953 to 1956, she studied in graduate school at the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature, where she defended her candidate dissertation in 1956. In 1983, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation, and in 1997, she was awarded the title of professor. In 1989, she was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

From 1986 until her passing in 2025, she worked at the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. In this institution, she held various positions, including head of the "Manas" department, as well as leading and senior research fellow.

In 1988, she was the scientific consultant for the documentary film by Melis Ubukeev "The Great Manaschi".

Under her guidance, 22 candidates and 4 doctors of science defended their dissertations. The scientific school she founded gained wide recognition both in Kyrgyzstan and beyond.

In 1998, Raissa Kydyrbaeva was awarded the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of science and technology for her participation in the preparation of the "Encyclopedia of Manas". She actively worked on the development of state and international programs, including the preparation of a dossier for the inclusion of the art of Kyrgyz akyns in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as well as on issues related to legislation and scientific-cultural policy concerning the epic of "Manas. Semetei. Seitek".

Raissa Zaitovna was an active participant in the scientific community, serving on dissertation councils in folklore studies and literary studies. Her contribution to the development of national science and scientific heritage will forever remain in the memory of the Kyrgyz people.
