The Ministry of Health reported an agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey to activate the direction of citizens for treatment in Turkey within the framework of annual quotas, which amount to 150 places.

Discussions on cooperation took place between the Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov and the Turkish Ambassador Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem. The main topics of the meeting included free treatment, the development of medical infrastructure, the enhancement of staff qualifications, and cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.

Minister Dosmambetov emphasized the importance of directing Kyrgyz citizens for free treatment, as well as the exchange of experience and the development of joint medical projects. He added that, at the initiative of President Sadyr Japarov, work is underway in the country to modernize the healthcare system and construct necessary medical facilities.

The Turkish Ambassador confirmed readiness to deepen cooperation, including issues of organ transplantation at the Kyrgyz-Turkish hospital named after Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, organizing internships for Kyrgyz specialists in Turkey for a period of 3 to 6 months, as well as joint educational and pharmaceutical projects. Special attention will be paid to the effective use of quotas for treating Kyrgyz citizens in Turkish medical institutions.

The parties agreed on the need to intensify work on directing citizens for treatment in Turkey, taking into account the annual quotas of 150 places, of which 100 are provided by the Turkish embassy in Kyrgyzstan and 50 by the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Issues of staff training were also discussed, where the Kyrgyz side expressed interest in internships not only for transplant surgeons but also for specialists in areas such as oncology, cardiac surgery, and other complex fields. The possibility of joint pharmaceutical production and technological assistance was considered, as noted in the statement.

Dosmambetov also expressed interest in studying the experience of multidisciplinary medical institutions in Turkey with the aim of implementing practices in Kyrgyzstan. He reported that work is currently underway to build a medical town, which requires studying approaches to the design and management of medical complexes.

The Minister added that the president actively supports the development of the healthcare system, the introduction of new technologies, the enhancement of medical specialists' qualifications, and the expansion of international cooperation, which creates the necessary conditions for profound changes in the system.
