On January 16, the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Kanbek Dosmambetov, met with the Ambassador of Turkey to the country, Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem.

According to information from the Ministry of Health, the meeting discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in the field of medicine, including mechanisms for sending Kyrgyz citizens for free treatment in Turkey, the development of medical infrastructure, human resources, and pharmaceutical collaboration.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for their support and contribution to the development of medical cooperation, emphasizing the strategic nature of the interaction with Turkey.

“On behalf of our ministry, we express our appreciation to the Turkish side for their activity and support. Turkey is our friendly state and a reliable partner in the field of medicine. We are interested in deepening cooperation, especially in the issues of sending citizens for treatment on a gratuitous basis, improving the qualifications of specialists, exchanging experiences, and implementing joint projects. In Kyrgyzstan, under the instruction of President Sadyr Japarov, a large-scale modernization of the healthcare system and construction of medical infrastructure is underway, and we are open to implementing advanced models and technologies,” stated Kanbek Dosmambetov.

The Turkish Ambassador confirmed readiness for further cooperation, including organizing organ transplant operations at the Kyrgyz-Turkish hospital named after Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, training Kyrgyz specialists in Turkey for periods ranging from 3 to 6 months, as well as joint educational and pharmaceutical projects and effective use of quotas for the treatment of Kyrgyz citizens in Turkish clinics.

As a result of the discussions, the parties agreed to intensify efforts to send Kyrgyz citizens for treatment in Turkey within the framework of annual gratuitous quotas, which amount to 150 places: 100 of these are formed through the Turkish embassy in Kyrgyzstan, and 50 through the Ministry of Health.

Additionally, attention was paid to training personnel: the Kyrgyz side expressed interest in internships for transplant surgeons and specialists in oncology, cardiac surgery, and other complex fields. The possibility of creating a joint pharmaceutical production and technologies was also discussed.

During the meeting, Minister Kanbek Dosmambetov also expressed a desire to study the experience of multidisciplinary medical institutions in Turkey for further application of successful practices in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that a project for the construction of a medical town is currently being implemented, which requires attention to modern approaches in design, equipment, and management of medical complexes.

The Minister emphasized that President of the Kyrgyz Republic S. Japarov focuses on the development of the healthcare system, supports the modernization of infrastructure, the introduction of new technologies, the improvement of specialists' qualifications, and the expansion of international cooperation, which creates the necessary conditions for systemic changes.
