At a recent meeting of the city hall board, the results for 2025 were summarized and plans for 2026 were announced, which include the expansion of the waste disposal system and the construction of a new waste recycling plant.
The mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, reported that on December 27, 2025, the first eco-technology plant in Central Asia was opened in Bishkek, capable of processing 1–1.2 tons of solid household waste per day and generating up to 30 megawatt-hours of electricity. To date, approximately 80,000 tons of waste have been processed at this plant.
According to the mayor, construction of the second plant will begin next year, which will increase the total processing capacity of the complex to 3,000 tons per day. This will allow for the processing of waste not only from Bishkek but also from the Chuy region.
In addition, work continues on a sorting and processing complex that will have a capacity of 100 tons per day. In 2026, the launch of a deep processing plant is also planned, where various products will be manufactured for municipal enterprises, such as benches, trash bins, manholes, and paving slabs.
