In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the construction of 36 schools is planned for 2026, which will help reduce the burden on existing educational institutions, where the number of students exceeds capacity by 46,000.
According to information from the city hall, 20 schools will be financed from the state budget, 12 with the support of the Saudi Development Fund, 1 with funds from the Russian government, and 3 schools will be built using local budget resources.
Recently, the Jogorku Kenesh gave the green light to a loan agreement with the Saudi Development Fund for $50 million (187.5 million Saudi riyals) for the construction and expansion of educational institutions.
This loan will be issued for a term of 25 years with a five-year grace period and an approximate interest rate of 1.5% per year.
These funds will be used for the construction of five new schools and seven additional buildings at existing institutions in Bishkek, as well as for the construction of two new schools in the Chui region. All new facilities will accommodate 150–1,000 students, significantly improving the educational infrastructure of both the capital and its suburbs.
