Earthquake in Kazakhstan felt by residents of the Issyk-Kul region

On February 17 at 16:08 local time, the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the MSK-64 scale, which corresponds to a strength of about 5 points at the epicenter.

Preliminary data indicate that the epicenter was located in Kazakhstan, approximately 65 kilometers northeast of the village of Ananyevo and 70 kilometers from Almaty.

In Kyrgyzstan, residents of various settlements felt the effects of the earthquake: in the village of Ananyevo, the intensity was 3 points, while in the villages of Kara-Oy, Chon-Sary-Oy, Kurmenty, Temirovka, Taldy-Suu, Bosteri, and in the city of Cholpon-Ata, it was 2.5 points.
