Kyrgyzstan is preparing for an important sporting event - the Asian Championship in wrestling, which will take place in the capital from April 6 to 12, 2026. The tournament will gather the best athletes in the categories of Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling. To coordinate the preparations for this event, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, held an urgent meeting with representatives of the federation.
During the meeting, the focus was placed not only on sports aspects but also on organizational issues: from the preparation of sports venues to the accommodation of participants, as well as on decisions regarding media accreditation and medical support. Moldazhiyev emphasized that safety and compliance with international standards are priorities, as this championship is of great significance for the country in terms of prestige.
As a result of the meeting, specific tasks and deadlines were established for the responsible agencies and the organizing committee. The head of the state agency noted that there is no time for preparation, and the interaction between government structures and the Wrestling Federation must be as effective as possible. Bishkek must establish itself as an ideal venue for the Asian Championship and confirm Kyrgyzstan's status as one of the leading countries in the world of wrestling.
