Lifelong prisoners celebrated International Mother Language Day
A cultural event titled “If I Am a Nation, I Am with My Language” took place at Correctional Institution No. 19, dedicated to International Mother Language Day. The participants of the evening were individuals sentenced to life imprisonment, as reported by the press service of the State Service for the Execution of Sentences (GSIN).

Representatives of various nationalities participated in the program dedicated to the celebration on February 21, including Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, Azerbaijanis, Turks, Dungans, Russians, and Pakistanis. Participants performed songs and recited monologues in their native languages, sharing stories about the importance of their language for preserving national identity.

“This event was organized as part of the president's decree on the spiritual and moral development of the individual. Such initiatives among those sentenced to life imprisonment aim to support their creative abilities, strengthen interethnic harmony, and foster respect for cultural values,” noted the GSIN.
