In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, a copy of the historical world map created in the 11th century by the great scholar Mahmud Kashgari is set to be installed. On this map, the center of the Earth will be marked by Lake Issyk-Kul. The initiative on this matter was proposed by the Secretary of State of Kyrgyzstan, Arslan Koichiev.

The Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy has been tasked with organizing a competition to select the best project for the installation of the map.

This map, created during the Islamic Renaissance in Central Asia, holds significant historical and cultural value. The monument will be part of the celebration of the millennium of Mahmud Kashgari-Barskani.

Mahmud Kashgari-Barskani (11th century) was a famous Turkic scholar, philologist, and cartographer, born in the city of Barskhan, located near Lake Issyk-Kul. He is the author of the significant work "Divan Lugat at-Turk" ("Dictionary of Turkic Dialects," 1072–1074), which serves as an encyclopedia of Turkic culture, language, folklore, and ethnography.
