The Turkish city of Erzurum is preparing to host a stage of the Snowboard World Cup
Each year, Turkey strengthens its position in the field of sports tourism by offering a variety of international events. Erzurum, one of the key centers for winter sports, is famous for the Palandöken ski resort and is preparing to host significant competitions in the winter season of 2026.

Having received the title of the tourist capital of 2025 from the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), as well as becoming the first European Capital of Winter Sports according to the Federation of European Capitals and Cities of Sport (ACES), Erzurum has significantly expanded its capabilities on the international stage. With its extensive slopes, modern infrastructure, and stable snow cover, Palandöken has become a world-class venue.

One of the most anticipated events will be the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup stage, scheduled for March 6-8, 2026. This will be the second time such competitions are held on the slopes of Palandöken. About 300 athletes from 20 countries are expected to participate, showcasing their skills and speed on the resort's challenging tracks.

In addition to sporting events, the winter season in Palandöken delights guests with cultural and entertainment activities. The Frozen Festival, which has been held annually since 2020, will take place from February 12 to 15, 2026. Guests can look forward to concerts and DJ sets by international performers, après-ski parties, skiing and snowboarding competitions, yoga sessions, ice sculpture creation, and workshops.

Erzurum also offers tourists a wealth of cultural and natural attractions. Among them are the Tortum Waterfall, the "Narman Fairy Chimneys," the Seven Lakes in the İspir area, as well as historical monuments such as the Ulu Mosque, a madrasa with two minarets, the Yakutiye Madrasa, and the Üç Kumbetter complex. Don't forget the Aziziye and Mecidiye bastions, which provide a panoramic view of the city. Local delicacies, such as cağ kebabı and the traditional dessert kadayıf dolması, are also worth trying.

The organization of international competitions and festivals only enhances Erzurum's appeal as a center for winter tourism, highlighting its status as one of the leading ski destinations in the region.
