In Karakol, the names of the first sailor and the first vice-admiral of the country were immortalized
In Karakol, a ceremony was held on the Alley of the Navy to unveil memorial plaques dedicated to two outstanding individuals: the first sailor of Kyrgyzstan, Nurkemil Zheenaliev, and the first vice-admiral of Central Asia, Marat Temirov. The initiative was carried out by the Union of Veterans of the Navy.

Nurkemil Zheenaliev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, became the first Kyrgyzstani to become a sailor and serve in the Baltic Fleet. For his courage displayed during the war, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star, as well as the medals "For Bravery," "For the Capture of Berlin," and "For Victory over Germany."

Marat Temirov, in turn, became the first Kyrgyz officer to be awarded the title of Rear Admiral of the Soviet Union in 1987 by the decision of the Council of Ministers. He served on a nuclear submarine as part of the Northern Fleet. In 1997, by the decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan, he was granted the title of Vice-Admiral, making him the only holder of this title in the history of the country. A diving boat, RVK-1328, was named in his honor, receiving the name "Vice-Admiral Temirov."
