Participation in this festival highlights the international potential of the Kyrgyz series industry
The series "Red Pants" from Kyrgyzstan was officially presented at the Series Mania Forum 2026, which takes place from March 21 to 27 in Lille, France. This was reported by the creators of the project.
This crime drama is based on real events and was created by screenwriter Tilek Cherikov and producer Erke Jumakmatova. Producers Pavel Feldman and Alexander Seliverstov are also involved in the production.
The plot of the series touches on themes of power, identity, and female solidarity in a harsh patriarchal environment, revealing a lesser-known page of Central Asian history.
"For the Kyrgyz series industry, participation in the Series Mania Forum is an important achievement and a testament to the international potential of the project. The forum provides opportunities for finding co-producers, attracting funding from European funds and television channels, as well as entering international markets," the official statement notes.
Series Mania is the largest international festival dedicated to contemporary series, considered one of the most significant events in the field of television content.
The industrial platform Series Mania Forum is one of the main European markets for series, alongside Berlinale and MIPCOM in Cannes.
The festival annually offers competitive and non-competitive premieres, as well as an extensive professional program for producers, authors, broadcasters, and streaming services.
The project "Red Pants" will participate in the Co-Pro Pitching Sessions — one of the key sections of the forum.
This section selects a limited number of projects from numerous applications worldwide.
Participation in Co-Pro Pitching provides authors with the opportunity to present their projects to leading European and international broadcasters, streaming platforms, funds, sales agents, and producers. The main prize in this section is 50,000 euros for further development of the project.
