The number of pensioners in Kyrgyzstan has increased by 60% over 17 years: Women make up the majority

In Kyrgyzstan, the number of pensioners has increased by 60% from 2007 to 2024, with women accounting for nearly 66% of the total.

As of 2024, the number of pensioners in the country has reached 846,222 people.

This data is provided by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, based on information from the Social Fund and other government agencies involved in pension provision.

Compared to 2007, when there were 528,719 registered pensioners, over 17 years, the number of pension recipients has increased by 317,503 people (+60%).

In most regions, women make up more than half of the total number of pensioners, with the highest share recorded in the city of Osh — about 67% in 2024.
