As of 2024, the number of pensioners in the country has reached 846,222 people.
This data is provided by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, based on information from the Social Fund and other government agencies involved in pension provision.
Compared to 2007, when there were 528,719 registered pensioners, over 17 years, the number of pension recipients has increased by 317,503 people (+60%).
Women as the main group of pensioners
In 2024, among pensioners:
- Women: 534,815 (63.2%)
- Men: 311,407 (36.8%)
Geography of pensioners
The largest number of pensioners in 2024 is registered in the following regions:
- Osh Region — 157,289
- Jalal-Abad Region — 153,103
- City of Bishkek — 143,160
The next largest are Chui Region (110,241) and Issyk-Kul Region (76,340).
The most noticeable growth in the number of pensioners is observed in Bishkek and Osh.
The largest increase in the number of pensioners from 2007 to 2024:
- City of Bishkek: from 73,796 to 143,160 (+94%);
- City of Osh: from 21,004 to 37,919 (+81%);
- Batken Region: from 40,907 to 72,419 (+77%).
In most regions, women make up more than half of the total number of pensioners, with the highest share recorded in the city of Osh — about 67% in 2024.
