The head of the State Penitentiary Service Chyngyz Kozhoshev visited correctional facility No. 27 and released akyn Askat Zhetigen from the punitive isolation cell. He also reminded the staff of the necessity to respect the rights of prisoners and to ensure humane conditions of detention. This was reported by the akyn's lawyer Nurbek Toktakunov on social media.
“Askat Zhetigen himself informed me about this, and he expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him during this difficult time,” noted the lawyer.
It is worth reminding that earlier the akyn described the conditions of detention in the colony in his letter, mentioning pressure and threats from the staff, as well as unjust imprisonment in the SHIZO.
