Teachers had previously expressed concerns that the salary increase would only affect English language teachers and those in STEM disciplines.
The Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan has confirmed that in April 2026, salaries will be increased for all teachers, not just for those teaching English and STEM subjects, as previously reported.
Teachers from the Issyk-Ata district and Naryn region had previously voiced their concerns that the salary increase would be implemented in stages, primarily affecting only certain categories of educators.
The ministry noted: "According to the directive of President Sadyr Japarov, starting from April 1, 2026, the salaries of education sector workers will be increased by 100% compared to the current level. This increase will affect all teachers, regardless of the subject they teach."
Thus, the head of state confirmed that teachers' salaries will be increased by 100%.
