According to a study published in the journal "Healthcare of Kyrgyzstan," there has been a slight decrease in the prevalence of viral hepatitis in the republic compared to 2019.

However, the overall morbidity rate remains high, and Kyrgyzstan is still among the countries with high endemicity for viral hepatitis.

In the study, which involved 12,661 people, a sample was taken in accordance with the World Health Organization protocol.

The participants in the study were individuals aged from 0 to 70 years and older. Among them, 37.6% were young people under 29 years old, 44.1% were adults aged 30 to 59 years, and 18.3% were elderly individuals over 60 years old.

During the analysis, 371 cases of viral hepatitis B were identified among adults, while among children aged 0 to 9 years, the positive cases accounted for 0.66%.

The highest prevalence of hepatitis B was recorded in the Osh region and the city of Osh — 4.09%, while the lowest rate was observed in the Talas region — 2.13%.

Additionally, a high prevalence of hepatitis B was noted among people aged 30 to 60 years. In children and adolescents under 19 years old, the statistics show lower figures. Experts attribute these results to the effectiveness of vaccination against hepatitis B, which has been included in the national vaccination schedule since 2001.
