Days of Kyrgyz Cinema to Be Held in Kazakhstan

An event dedicated to Kyrgyz cinema will take place in the capital of Kazakhstan, organized by the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan. The Film Days will be held on January 29 and 30 and are aimed at developing cultural ties between the two countries, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The grand opening of the event is scheduled for January 29 at 18:00. Viewers will be able to see the feature film "Kara, kyzyl, sary" ("Black, Red, Yellow"), created by the renowned filmmaker Aktan Arym Kubat. This philosophical drama tells the story of a weaver from Batken. It received the main prize, the "Golden Cup," at the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2025, and was also awarded a UNESCO prize at the APSA Awards and nominated from Kyrgyzstan for the Oscar.

The next day, January 30, also at 18:00, the audience will be presented with the film "Kachkyn" ("Fugitive") by director Dastan Japar Uulu. This gripping drama became the leader of the national film award "Ak Ilbirs" in 2026, winning in the categories of "Best Film," "Best Screenplay," and "Best Direction." The film was also awarded for Best Screenplay at the SCO countries festival in China and participated in film festivals in Busan and Los Angeles.

The screenings will take place at the Chaplin Mega Silk Way cinema, located in the Mega Silk Way shopping center in Astana. All films will be shown in the Kyrgyz language with Russian subtitles, and admission to the events will be free.
