The majority of the earnings came from the domestic market in China, allowing it to surpass major Hollywood releases and demonstrating the growing influence of Chinese cinema on the global industry.
The sequel to the animated film "Zootopia," which premiered on November 26, 2025, is also performing well at the box office during the New Year holidays. The global earnings of the film reached approximately $1.46 billion, making it the most successful animated project in the history of Walt Disney Animation Studios. Of this amount, about $1.13 billion came from international markets, while the film earned around $330 million in the USA and Canada, surpassing the previous record set by "Frozen 2" (around $1.45 billion).
In the North American market during the holiday season, the film "Avatar: Flame and Ash," which started its run in December 2025, maintains a strong position with global earnings nearing $860 million. Of this amount, about $250 million came from the USA and Canada, while over $600 million came from international markets. The film continues to be one of the main drivers of the New Year box office.
Additionally, among the successful releases of the holiday season, the film "Lilo and Stitch," which was released in the fall of 2025, is approaching the $1 billion mark in global earnings.
In Russia, one of the notable events in the box office was the film "Cheburashka 2." According to distributors, on the day of its premiere, the film grossed over 1 billion rubles, marking one of the most successful openings in the history of domestic cinema. The first part of "Cheburashka," released in 2023, previously set a record by grossing over 6 billion rubles.
As in previous years, audiences show a high interest in fantasy and family films, especially during the New Year period.
