Iceland to Consider Kyrgyzstan's Invitation to Participate in the WIC This Year

In Geneva, on February 23, 2026, during the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, a meeting took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and his Icelandic counterpart, Þórgerðr Katrín Gunnarsdóttir. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

During the discussions, possible directions for strengthening bilateral relations were considered, with a focus on areas such as trade, finance, climate initiatives, green energy, education, and investments.

Kulubaev invited Icelandic representatives to participate in the World Nomad Games in 2026 and the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25," which will take place in 2027. Minister Gunnarsdóttir expressed great interest in these events and confirmed that she would consider the proposals for cooperation.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to open dialogue and sustainable development of Kyrgyz-Icelandic relations, as well as agreed to initiate political consultations and expand the legal framework for cooperation.
